Cast List for Season 5

Over the next few months, we will want to develop a list of characters who need to be cast this season. When considering suggestions of characters to include, consider the following:

Does this character play a significant role in the story? If they are merely 'there' in the background of some scenes, we would not need to cast them at this season casting level - that would be up to the director of that particular episode to arrange. Characters such as Gelmir son of Guilin and Gorlim the Unhappy will likely appear in this season, but not as significant enough characters to warrant a casting decision. Characters who have speaking roles and appear in multiple episodes would be good candidates for casting.

So, for the Men this season, we would need to cast:
Bëor
Adanel
Andreth
Barahir
Bregor?
Hador
Amlach
Bereg
Galdor
Gundor?
Haleth
Haleth's father Haldad?
Haleth's brother Haldar?
Haleth's nephew Haldan?
Hareth?
Elves:
Maeglin
For the elves, all characters have already been cast, right? With the possible exception of Finduilas and Gil-galad, who could be saved for next season, and any minor character in Gondolin or Nargothrond that we might choose to highlight.
For the Villains, there are no new characters.
For the Frame...well, let's hold off on that for now, but obviously we will have Frame characters to cast as well.

Yes, all plot-relevant Elves up to this point (at least from the House of Finwe aside from Finduilas and Gil-galad) have been cast to the best of my knowledge. The main Gondolin minor character I can think of highlighting is Penlod since Aredhel hands off her command to him. The other is Egalmoth, who is the third member of the three-man escort team with Glorfindel and Ecthelion, has a curved sword (definitely non-standard for an Elf) and survives all the way to the Third Kinslaying.

There's also the Dwarves. Are there any dwarves we want to have interact with Eol, Maeglin, or the Feanoreans?

I would remove the question mark behind Haldad - his name is too awesome to not give him at least a small part of the spotlight :D

Maybe we should call Haldar Halbro while we're at it.

I remember that we were considering changing Bereg's name since he's no longer a member of the House of Bëor. Is that still on the table?

Other characters with a question mark could be Gloredhel (Galdor’s sister) and Haldir her husband, if we’re doing the double wedding. For the villains, maybe Gorgul if Sauron needs to talk with the rank-and-file Orcs; he’ll be more important next season.

The leader of the House of Haleth during the Dagor Bragollach and the Nirnaeth Arnoediad is most likely Haldir. It does depend when we want his father Haldan to die, but if alive, Haldan will be 75 at the time of the Dagor Bragollach:

We could have Haldan die before the Dagor Bragollach since Hurin and Huor are his son's wards.

What's Gil Galad's casting status? In the podcast there was a speculation about contrasting him and Maeglin. I guess a lot of his stuff will begin happening next season, he isn't moving to Nargothrond until then (right?), but maybe the contrasting should begin this season. A scene in Minas Tirith could be interesting (he wouldn't be central to any major plot of course).

Unknown, though he's likely going to be born during this time.

Yeah I know, he's supposed to be born at some point early this season, Corey said he should be a young man by the time of Dagor Bragollach. What I'm saying is that these circumstances led to the idea to contrast him and Maeglin. If we do that, we have to have an idea what that's going to look like, but if not, there's maybe no reason to add him to the casting list.

I thought the big contrast was going to be between Gil-Galad and Celebrimbor.

So for the Frame this season we’re going to be in Harad, where Gandalf will be entreating with Haradrim of Numenorean descent. Are there any ideas for Adunaic names for the Haradrim Matriarch and her sons, one of whom will become the Mouth of Sauron?

I've been looking at the name list you posted a link to. I like Arnubên (King-servant, steward) for the younger son. What about Azrâindil (Sea-flower) for the queen and Abrazân (Steadfast) for the older son?

Question: have we decided on a name for Annael’s son who serves under Fingon and what happens to him?
