Yeah we should be a bit skeptical about this list of course, although I am sure the creators of the list have less grasp of Numenorean names than you have, so we shouldn't read too much into the names on the list (although one might think the difference between the two sets is obvious). Or perhaps the list is correct, and it signifies some hidden meaning, perhaps the friends have an unclear gender?Somehow i also doubt the tables posted above... Nolion and Ontamo are male names, Hildrun and leofwyn are female ones... i wouldn't take any of those identifications for granted.
I think that’s a code name.I really hope they have some people who help them with Tolkien names! Noone EVER should be named Tyra...
Apparently there’s another code name for Durin, “Brac”, which I believe Owain Arthur will play (could be wrong about this), so it looks like we will have two Durins. Probably Durin III will be in the introductory episodes, but maybe also an old king who dies in later episodes, handing over the crown to Durin IV.I agree, III or IV are the possible alternatives. There’s some evidence that points to him just being in the first two episodes, which would imply that it’s Durin III.
According to Fiona Jallings, another Neo-Sindarin author who knows Salo privately, he isn't involved and doesn't have a clue who it could be either. It's probably no one we know (until now that is), hopefully they'll join the Tolkienian linguistics community afterwards.
