I guess it caught me offguard, as I have been making that statement repeatedly for years, and don't usually get such a horrified response .

Well, as we know, we all come at this from different points of view, and thus focus on different aspects. I wasn't party to any of these conversations, but I'm certain that you acquitted yourself admirably.
