Welcome all to the 2018 Selection Thread for the Mythard Movie Club!

As we announced in our first Mythgard Movie Club panel (which will be available on the Signum YouTube channel soon), we will be covering 10 films in 2018:
  • 5 new release films: The Last Jedi, A Wrinkle in Time, Solo: A Star Wars Film, Ready Player One, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald
  • 5 older films: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (corresponding with the current Mythgard Academy pick), plus 4 to be chosen here in the forum.
For the 4 movies that remain to be chosen, we took several of the nominations we received after the most recent campaign drive and added a few additional options from different decades. Some of these are films we've never seen, and all of them are ones we are really excited to discuss with our panelists and all those who attend.

The Options

The six options you have to choose from are as follows:
  • Predestination (2014) – A bootstrap time-travel tale based on the short story "—All You Zombies—" by Robert A. Heinlein, starring Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook.
  • Edward Scissorhands (1990) – A dark fantasy romance from director Tim Burton about a man with scissors for hands, starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder.
  • Alien (1979) – Ridley Scott's deep-space cabin scenario horror sci-fi film in which an alien systematically kills the crew of a space ship, starring Sigourney Weaver and Tom Skerritt.
  • Night of the Living Dead (1968) – Another cabin scenario where reanimated corpses try to eat everyone, and in which George Romero establishes the zombie genre. Starring Duane Jones and Judith O'Dea.
  • This Island Earth (1955) – The film adaptation of a 1952 novel of the same name by Raymond F. Jones, in which scientists encounter aliens who ask for help defending their home world, starring Jeff Morrow, Faith Domergue, and Rex Reason
  • She (1935) – One of nearly a dozen adaptations of H. Rider Haggard's novel of the same name, this version was produced by Merian Cooper (King Kong) and stars Helen Gahagan and Randolph Scott.
To vote, simply chose up to 4 of the movies in the poll below no later than January 5, 2018. The winners and schedule will be announced at our next Mythgard Movie Club panel on January 10, 2018, at 8:30pm.
