Amon Rûdh (Bald Hill in Sindarin) is a hill in West Beleriand, south of Brethil. Rising a thousand feet up, Amon Rûdh is covered in aeglos, a thorny plant that blooms with white flowers, and seregon, a plant that blooms red in rocky soil, making the hill look as if blood stains the hill.
Amon Rûdh can support at least 100 in its caves though by 486 F.A, Mîm and his two sons Ibun and Khîm are the only remaining inhabitants. Mîm is captured by Túrin and his outlaws and obliged to give up the location and sharing his space in exchange for his life. And so the Gaurwaith, at least the original 50 or so when Túrin met them, make Amon Rûdh their base of operations and the center of Dor-Cúarthol until Mîm betrays the location to the Orcs; the Orcs attack Amon Rûdh and all but Túrin, Beleg, and Andvír are killed. Mîm also abandons the place and like most of the rest of Beleriand, the hill is sunk beneath the waves as a consequence of the War of Wrath.
