Beldis

Beldis is Bëorian (though a minor enough character that we will never clarify her family tree on screen). She stayed in Brethil when the other members of the House of Bëor moved to Dor-lómin with Emeldir. She is Handir's wife, and raises their children, including Brandir. When Brandir is seriously injured during the Summit Council meeting at Tol Sirion, she has to contend with the fact that he will survive, but likely never fully recover from his injury. Then she will have to say farewell to Handir when he leaves for the Nirnaeth (but unlike everyone else, her husband will likely come back to her!)

We want the House of Bëor to have a Mediterranean look, so Beldis should probably have dark hair. If we could find an actress with grey eyes, that would be awesome! But most likely we'd use colored contacts to achieve that look.

I would like to suggest Laysla De Oliveira for this role.

She's a 32 year old Canadian actress with Brazilian heritage who is 5' 7 1/2" tall. She is very good at portraying a character's vulnerability and strength (often at the same time). She appears in the 2019 Stephen King film "In the Tall Grass" about...people trapped in a magic field? She plays a CIA operative with a history of abuse in "Lioness," so she gets to show the dilemma of someone going undercover and presenting a persona made of lies to try to befriend someone...who is arguably a much better friend to her than her actual allies. What she portrays so well in that show is her character's ability to keep going tenaciously through serious adversity...over and over again. I think that resonates with the experience of the refugees of the House of Bëor, and would be a good fit for Beldis. Interestingly, her character is meant to be half-Middle Eastern in the show. She's also in "Locke and Key," but I haven't seen that so I can only say that her character Dodge is a villain.

(I put this in the regular forum so people could discuss the character, since she wasn't on the original casting list)
