Sir Ian McKellen, John Rhys-Davies, Martin Freeman, Sir Derek Jacobi, Annie Lennox, and others have launched an effort, with the help of donations from the public, to buy the house that JRR and Edith Tolkien lived in at 20 Northmoor Road, Oxford from 1930 to 1947. https://www.projectnorthmoor.org/
