Dramatic Locations

Way too early to even be thinking about this, I know (season 6?), but I saw video of this and just thought about how we are going to have some really dramatic scenery in Beleriand to play around with. I was thinking about the Bridge over the River Narog when I saw this, but we'll also need the Deer's Leap.

Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina. It was the location primarily used for The Last of the Mohicans (1992) starring Daniel Day-Lewis. Could try Chimney Rock Park for the duel between Glorfindel and the Balrog.

The Appalachians are very old, worn down mountains. I imagine the mountains around Gondolin would be much younger, like the Rocky Mountains.

I do love the Great Smokeys, though - they're beautiful. I'm sure we can work them into this project somewhere! It's also funny that they used that location for Last of the Mohicans as that story takes place in New York State - Adirondacks or Finger Lakes regions would have been good options, you'd think.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado might be good for that.

It has the advantage of being very accessible from the top (there's a tourist road along the upper ridge). Bonus: it comes with Golden Eagles.

I still would like some rural english or british Landscapes Tolkien admired. Caerthilian Cove for example or some other Landscapes Tolkien drew. I also like some finnish and Alpine Landscapes he likely was inspired by.

I don't really know what they can be in the show, but they are cool and maybe someone can come up with something.

I can easily see Túrin clibing through one of the clefts to kill Glaurung.
