I am Sancho

I like dietlbomb's observation that Sancho Proudfoot was a mere 11-years-old during his excavation attempt.

When I made the comment about Sancho & Odo Proudfoot in the last ELOTR session, I was just thinking how amusingly fitting it would have been if Frodo had been wrestling an "Odo" in that scene, for it would have echoed Tolkien's wrestling with the Odo character during the early to almost final drafts of the Fellowship of the Ring. It was remarkable to learn, with your guidance, that Sancho Proudfoot may have actually trumped Frodo in the line of sucession to be Bilbo's heir, Sancho being his first cousin twice removed and Frodo his second cousin once removed. Bilbo hand-selecting his heir had more ramifications within his own extended family than I had previously realized.

I like to think that during the Frodo versus Sancho tussle Sancho cries, "Proudfeet!!" Then when they finally get to the front door Frodo says quietly in his face, "Proudfoots," and hurls him out the door.
