I nominate Jessica Brown Findlay. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3726887/ She was nominated to play Melian. She was nominated to play Arwen. We've brought her up in our discussions about actresses who look like Edith Tolkien. She is a skilled dancer. She can sing. She's known for roles in Downton Abbey and Black Mirror, and she's played Ophelia in Hamlet (against Andrew Scott as Hamlet). In short, she'd be great.

Age: 28
Height: 5'5"

I nominate Daisy Ridley
https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5397459/
Age: 26
Height: 5’7”
Roles: Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Mary Debenham in Murder on the Orient Express, Ophelia in Ophelia
Ridley is another actress described as looking like Edith Tolkien, she can sing, I think she can dance, and her roles as Rey and Ophelia have received quite a bit of praise.

Video of singing with Barbra Streisand (there’s also a video on YouTube of Daisy singing Moon River)

EDIT: WAS CHOSEN TO PLAY MERIL, WIFE OF ORODRETH, MOTHER OF GIL-GALAD

I'd like to nominate Philippa Soo. She's known mostly for theatre rather than screen acting (she originated the role of Eliza Hamilton in Hamilton, and has been in a couple other Broadway productions since), but I think she'd do a great job here. Her singing voice is absolutely beautiful, and she could definitely portray the huge emotional and character range of Luthien's story arc, from sweet and innocent, to desperately in love, to fierce and defiant, to grief-stricken, to resolved.

Note: the video isn't great quality, but it's a surprisingly good audition piece, content-wise

Back from the dead to make some important suggestions.

Nominating Zendaya

She's quite young and maybe a tiny bit short (she's taller'n me, though!), but I think she'd be great. A dancer and a singer, I don't think I'd say the role was exactly in her wheelhouse, but I'd love to see her take a crack at it.

I really like the nomination of Philippa Soo, she seems like a potentially amazing actress for Lúthien. That being said, I'd like to nominate Anne Hathaway:
https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0004266/

She's a great actress and is very beautiful but she has dark hair and the face that really accentuates her gorgeous eyes. She can play a range of roles and has an amazing singing voice. The only drawback I can see is possibly age at 35 but she still looks amazing.

I nominate Lily Collins!

I love her because she's got lovely dark hair and a quality that isn't obvious "glamour" beauty, but which is undeniably beautiful. I find I am just drawn to her face. She's got a quality of being untainted, which I feel Luthien needs.

She is light on her feet. I didn't include any shots from Mirror, Mirror, but she did some dancing, and some fight work, and worked with dwarfs! She also has a pretty, if untrained, singing voice (
).

But the real clincher is she bears a bit of a resemblance to Edith Tolkien and will in fact be playing her in the upcoming biopic. So isn't that kind of perfect?
