The better part of a year ago, I was listening to episode 43 of Exploring LOTR and was struck by Dr. Olsen's mention of the old (alchemical?) belief that different metals were created by the light of different planets shining upon the earth (sunlight->gold, moonlight->silver, marslight->iron, etc.). I found this concept fascinating and Googled it, but I could find no other sources that mentioned it. I then resolved to ask the Mythgard forumgoers for links to further reading (books, articles, etc.) on the creation of metal by celestial light. But I forgot to do so until now. So: Do any of you know where I could read more about this, please?
