For Season 8
Niënor Níniel (473-499 F.A.) is the youngest child of Húrin and Morwen and the younger sister of Túrin. She is born in the year after the Nirnaeth Arnoediad and she is raised by her mother while Túrin leaves for Doriath for his own safety, where Morwen and Niënor are (somehow) undisturbed by the Easterling occupiers. Some 20 years later due to Túrin's martial deeds as the Mormegil in Nargothrond, Morwen and Nïenor leave for Doriath... to learn that Túrin has been gone for 10 years. After hearing of Túrin's disappearance in the wake of the Fall of Nargothrond, Morwen resolves to find Túrin whether to save him or bury him and Niënor accompanies her pretending to be an Elf of Mablung's guard. However, the party is scattered by an evil fog generated by Glaurung and Niënor finds herself face-to-face with the dragon; she boldly proclaims herself as the daughter of Húrin and challenges him, which proves to be a grave error as Glaurung locks eyes with her and wipes her memory. Mablung finds her and the remnants of his guard attempts to return to Doriath but is set upon by Orcs; the soldiers kill the Orcs but Niënor flees into the forests of Brethil where she is eventually found by Túrin, her own brother, at the grave-mound of Finduilas of Nargothrond. Túrin gives her the name Níniel, or "Tear-Maiden" as she weeps at his story of woe. After three years, Niënor's heart is turned to Túrin, and she marries him (!). When Glaurung comes to attack Brethil due to Túrin's guerilla warfare against his Orcs, Túrin ventures to take him personally. Niënor and Brandir follow Túrin and his companions to the Cabed-en-Aras and when Niënor finds Túrin, Glaurung reveals her true identity and removes his spell of amnesia with his death; horrified by the revelation, Niënor casts herself over the edge.
Niënor is described as tall and blonde with blue or grey eyes, a classical member of the House of Hador. There seems to be some confusion over her physical appearance where during the casting sessions for the last couple seasons, I've been hearing in the podcasts is that some of the readers and those who listen to the podcasts believe that she's shorter and dark-haired; this is what Túrin thinks she looked like, before Mablung reveals the truth. This is a plot point as she infiltrates Mablung's guard with a cloak and her height is such that she is only revealed as a woman.
