Old Becomes New, Future Changes Past

I've been going back and listening earlier episodes, including the early episodes about Rivendell and the Council. It's strange - there are times when I feel like I'm listening for the first time, the discussions seem so much richer after all the more recent discussions, including the discussions here. Have any of you had similar experiences? It gives me a slight taste of what Tolkien must have felt when he first met Faramir, for instance, and had to go back to the Council and realized how different it really was from what he first wrote.

That's one of the great joys of TLOTR. The more you read it, the more you discuss it, the more you get out of it.

This process does not seem to ever cease.

Well. it hasn't for me after more than 50 years. But this is the first time I've been able to discuss it in any depth.
