Raiment

A note while catching up: In the discussion of Glorfindel and his raiment, there was a sense that the word was being used differently. Looking through the times it is used, it appears to be associated with elf-made items: the clothing of Arwen and Glorfindel, the cloaks of the Fellowship that are gifts from Galadriel.

The other two moments are the raiment brought out of Theodin’s hoard (“gifts to my fathers out of Gondor”) and the cloak of Finduilas of Amroth that Faramir gives to Lady Éowyn in the Houses of the Healing.

Given the associations of named items in works like Beowulf (e.g., his armor was made by Weylan Smith), there is a case for these items being either actual or, by reputation, attributed associations with elf-make.
