Seek for the Sword meter

Hey all,

I just re-listened to last week's class and our discussion of the rhythm of the "Seek for the Sword" poem. I have to admit that I don't know all the terminology for poetic meter, so here is my stab using musical notation.

Nice. The penultimate measure should end with two sixteenth notes, not 32nds. And the first note should be the middle syllable of Isildur's name (with "For Is" as sixteenths in the previous measure) - that puts the stress where it belongs in his name. In other words, the same rhythm for both those measures.

But I think I prefer it in 6/8 time, actually.
