I'm taking The Worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien this fall, and I want to do some preparatory reading. I have 'The Road to Middle Earth', by Shippey, and 'Tolkien and the Great War' by Garth. (I have started with the Shippey book, and to be honest, a lot of it is above my head.)
Is anyone else planning to take this class? What books would be a good idea to read? Do we have any idea what the syllabus will be beyond the new Worlds of Tolkien book?
