Zirak is a dwarf of Nogrod, one of the Firebeards. He is an ambitious dwarf, and an excellent craftsman. We meet him in Season 6 when he crafts the Nauglamír for Finrod. He has an interest in the Noldor's crafted gems (including the silmarils), but here he is a young craftsman, involved in trade. (By 'young', think the 139 year old Gimli in Lord of the Rings). We will see him again as an older dwarf, the venerable Gamil Zirak, who disastrously agrees to work for Thingol to incorporate the recovered silmaril into the Nauglamír, leading to both their deaths.
Other Firebeard dwarfs have been cast as the following actors in Season 3: Zoë Bell as Telchar, Brian Blessed as Gamil Brôg, and Brendan Gleeson as King Laurin.
John Hoogenakker
Age: about 45
Height: 5' 10" (1.79 m)
Active in professional theater since 1999, John Hoogenakker has had a varied film career, often playing lawyers, doctors, and other 'suits'. He's also the king in a series of Bud Light commercials:
More recently, he's a prosecuting attorney in Hulu's Dopesick (about oxycontin/the opiod crisis), a baseball coach in Teacher, and a CIA operative in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. He was Scott Garland in Colony. This American actor will work well as a dwarf in this supporting role.
