Diminutive Faeries

I thought I would offer an item to demonstrate the distinction between the Victorian-Edwardian popular impression of fairies/elves and what Tolkien created with The Lord of the Rings.

In the Celtic Revival, W. B. Yeats wrote about human sized faeries -- both in his poetry and in his folklore collections. Nevertheless, when a political cartoonist decided to lampoon him and his fellow Irish writer George Moore (who was much more into Tolstoy-like realism), they did not use Yeats' vision. The Queen of the Fairies is a diminutive fairy, as can be seen here: https://previews.magnoliabox.com/printcollector/mb_hero/1626862/MUS-FAPC1114_850.jpg
