"Here we all are"

Over the past year-ish, I have listened from episode 1 and finally caught up. I have some thoughts scribbled down from across the whole series so far - so you can 'look forward'(!) to some posts revisiting Weathertop and even the Shire soon...!

But anyway, a small comment for now. In Episode 174, we were talking about Gandalf's utterance "Well, the Tale is now told from first to last. Here we all are, and here is the Ring. ... What shall we do with it?" I interpret this as Gandalf highlighting that all the disparate news and tales and stories of the ages have converged to this one point (in space and in time). Everything has so far led to this momentous turning point. Whatever their choice, everything will soon branch out again from this point - they have a weighty decision ahead.

I can almost picture it like a mass of threads coming from many directions, funnelling through the tight circle of the ring, and spreading out again as they emerge from the other side...
