Politics in Silmarillion

Very interesting topic!

I don#t think much of the Elves as a feudal/court society, yet there are hints towards that...

I think elven Politics are still at a very early stage... they#ve just developed from a tribal structure in which chieftains are chosen because of power and charisma into a kind of herital nobility in which the descendants of powerful leaders inherit their fathers reputation and loyal following.

Apart from that i imagine the Elves to be organised in two ways, first clanj of family with an Indor or Dominus/Elder presiding his kindred and second Guilds/Houses like the Gwaith-i-Mirdain or the Houses of Gondolin, which seem to have chosen Leaders who act like a kind of feudal Lords but aren't exactly that but more of a client-system similar to early Rome maybe.

Men would maybe imitate these structures but move faster into a kind of herital nobility and feudal-system (based on their early loyalty to several elf-houses?).

I#m still wondering about the political structure of Morgoth and the Orcs, but I think a very rigid military caste system for orcs and a sort of meritocracy for the Umaiar/Demons could work?
