I nominate Kevin McKidd. I don't have anything smart to say about this, but just look at him, he's perfect. Well, he is a great actor...he is likeable but rough in the way Mahtan has to be. He has a good beard, too.

I nominate Peter Franzén, hailed as "One of the most respected Finnish actors of all time". I'm only familiar with his character as a Norse king, but he brings an interesting dynamic to that role. Definitely rough, but charismatic and dedicated to the people he loves.
