JRRT says (in Appendix F) that the resemblance of these Hobbit-names to those found in our "real" world is an accidental artefact of translation. While many Hobbit-maids had names of flowers or jewels, most Hobbit-lads (and some -maids) had names with no current meaning in their language, so JRRT borrowed a bunch of names from all over. He does mention that he refrained from tweaking them to fit the appropriate gender-suffix (-a for lads and -o/-e for maids) because that would look odd to us Brits 😀
