Yes, I think it was the right decision. I voted for Oscar Isaacs as Fingolfin but I can see him as someone else, perhaps Turin?

Yes, I could see him as Turin, but it depends somewhat on who we cast as Hurin, as he needs to look his son. I could see him as Maeglin too, given that Mark Strong is Eol, although we don't know who Aredhel is yet.

I can at least provide the voting results now, with the caveat that this was not the final casting result. Names marked in red were either overturned or there was so much back and forth discussion about them that I'm not sure who was cast in the end :p Several of the vetoes were specifically intended to save these actors for a more important role later, and not 'waste' them on a minor role now. At one point, Trish Lambert did express a concern with many of the older actors nominated for elvish roles - visible wrinkles doesn't fit with the eternal youthfulness of elves. Corey Olsen expressed the desire that elvish men not be overly muscle-y.

So what is the difference between just the actor names being marked in red and both the character and actor names being marked in red?

Can we talk about the casting choices for Season 2 now, or should we wait until the episode is released? I could use spoilers, but I'm not sure how to on this board.
For future reference, the 'Spoilers' option is one of the drop-down choices of "Insert" (next to the picture and video insert buttons).

I totally get Trish's objections about age. But there was some inconsistency there, Cary Elwes is comparatively old and that seemed to be fine.

Yeah - I got the impression that Trish was making a general comment, rather than specifically commenting on the nominees who were up when she said that. She didn't object enough to veto (except in the case of Eric Bana), but wanted to know why late 40s/50s was considered acceptable for elvish casting. I think that Cary Elwes was certainly part of that, even though she didn't say it at the time. The photo of him is not a close-up of his face, so I didn't notice how visible wrinkles are (around his eyes, etc). Perhaps we can play off his 'age' as grief over the loss of his wife. Same with his wife when she returns - having returned from the dead might be a somewhat harrowing experience, and she might look somewhat aged on account of that.

Some people do retain 'youthful' looks longer, but I think our next generation elves should probably be in the younger age bracket (25-40). It is perfectly acceptable for an adult elf to be the same age as the actors portraying their parents - that's the whole point of agelessness. But maybe cut back on the 45+ nominees for elves, and save those for the men from now on.

The list of actors the execs can't waste or fit better roles:
Haleth - Catheryn Winnick
Barahir, Brodda, Edain - Christian Bale
Glaurung, Ar-Pharazôn, Elros - Andrew Scott
More important role - Brie Larson
Recast as Melkor, if he comes on show! - Vin Diesel
Bëor - Eric Bana
Maeglin - David Tennant
Lobelia Sackville-Baggins - Daisy Ridley :D
Finduilas - Jewel Staite

And no, Keira Knightly got the role! Yeah!
